Hospitality photography: Wildview Retreat
Nestled among the Serra do Caldeirão mountains, Wildview Retreat is one of the foremost retreats in the Algarve focussed on health, yoga and nutrition. During my hikes I have often passed the Wildview Retreat and I have always been in awe by its panoramic setting amongst the cork trees. I was therefor delighted to have the opportunity to work together with Wildview Retreat on creating new imagery for their marketing efforts.
Wildview Retreat
Located near São Brás de Alportel and built on the ruins of the abandoned mountain village of Corgas Brava, the property has been transformed into an iconic wellness retreat surrounded by nothing but wilderness and nature. Nothing to do but restore and relax the body, mind and soul. On the retreat all guests will be away from the pressures of modern society, isolated in nature embarking on a programme of detoxification, wellness and fitness, working towards restoring health and balance in their lives.
Photographing the interior and exterior of Wildview Retreat
Hospitality photography is a specialised form of photography which combines aspects such as real estate photography, architectural photography, event photography and and interior design photography. The goal is to capture the spirit of the establishment and effectively communicate the ambiance of all the different spaces of a villa, hotel, restaurant or retreat. For the shoot at Wildview Retreat some additional equipment was necessary to get the best results, such as a wide-angle lens, a flash and a sturdy tripod. But mostly the great natural light and tranquil environment worked for itself and made photographing Wildview Retreat inspiring. It was especially a positive challenge to capture all the different details the owners personally designed. Highlight was the hike to one of the hills surrounding the area and capturing the beautiful sunset behind the Wildview Retreat. This shot for me captures the tranquility, wilderness and isolation of the Wildview Retreat like no other and why I love my job!
