Bom dia!

I'm Bart, a Dutch photographer based in the heart of Portugal's Algarve where I photograph the people, places and stories that make life memorable. From destination weddings and relaxed family sessions to boutique hospitality and adventurous brands, my approach is always the same: authentic, unobtrusive and story-driven. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll usually find me exploring the coastline or countryside with my wife and my biggest muse—our Bali rescue dog, Bakso.

My journey into photography began long before it became my profession. A lifelong curiosity about people, places, and cultures led me to pursue a Master's degree in Sustainable Tourism and build a career spanning more than two decades in international tourism management. From Morocco and Tanzania to Indonesia and beyond, I had the privilege of working in some of the world's most inspiring destinations, always with a camera close at hand.

Those years taught me something invaluable: unforgettable experiences are built through thoughtful details, genuine human connection, and meaningful stories. Whether welcoming guests to a boutique retreat or documenting a couple's wedding day, the goal is remarkably similar—to create something people will remember long after the moment has passed.

After moving to Portugal, captivated by its rugged coastline, golden light, and relaxed pace of life, photography gradually became more than a passion. It became the perfect way to combine my love for storytelling with my experience in hospitality and travel.

That transition truly began with a last-minute request to photograph a friend's wedding in Italy. I quickly discovered that what I enjoyed most wasn't simply taking beautiful photographs—it was quietly observing the moments that matter most and preserving them with honesty and emotion. One wedding led to another, and before long I was photographing destination weddings, boutique hotels, portraits and hospitality experiences throughout Portugal and beyond.

Leaving behind a successful career in tourism wasn't an easy decision. It meant stepping away from more than twenty years of experience and the security that came with it. But following this path has given me something even more meaningful: the opportunity to tell stories that become part of people's lives.

Today, I bring together my understanding of hospitality, and my passion for authentic storytelling to create images that feel natural, timeless, and deeply personal. Whether I'm documenting an intimate wedding celebration or capturing a special family anniversary, my goal is always the same—to create photographs that continue to evoke emotion for years to come.
